🫢 my new favorite four-letter word

I've adopted a new word that I’ve been throwing around like confetti🎊: R E S T

It's my 2025 mantra, and here’s why it could be yours too.

Rest isn't just downtime.

Rest is energy. It replenishes and revitalizes your mind, body, and soul.

It’s your secret weapon for mastering allostasis—your body's brilliant system that keeps you steady and balanced while adapting to life's demands. ⚖️

In the grand design of neuroscience, your brain acts as the bean counter for your body's energy—forecasting, budgeting, and adjusting all the thinking, feeling, and regulating necessary to anticipate needs and allocate resources so you stay alive and well.

Think of your body as a sleek car zipping down life's highway, with your gas tank symbolizing your reservoir of energy—your "body budget," if you will.

Every time life’s pedal hits the metal—whether it’s juggling work, shuttling kids, stressing over bills, or hitting the gym—you're drawing from those energy reserves.

Your brain is that vigilant driver, always watching the gas gauge, making sure you're fueled up to keep cruising without stalling. It's actively predicting every curve and bump so you glide smoothly along.

It’s not just reacting to running low. It’s up ahead, planning refills in advance to make sure you stay within budget while making it to your destination.

This is allostasis in action.

If you're not paying attention to the warning signs⚠️, you might find your "body budget" as shaky as a flashing fuel light on a road trip gone wrong, leading to:

  • Brain fog. Like driving through a thick cloud, unable to see what’s up ahead.
  • Feeling hangry. Missed a few pit stops? Now your engine is overheating with hunger-induced rage.
  • Mood swings. Like an unpredictable rogue gust of wind–you're calm one moment, honking the next.
  • Increased stress. Every little bump feels like a giant pothole. Your suspension (and patience) is wearing thin.
  • Lack of motivation. Suddenly, everything feels uphill, and you're rethinking all this driving effort.
  • Chronic fatigue. Refueling again and again, yet you're still stuck on 'E'.

These are the “running on fumes” moments, leaving you scavenging for energy like it’s your last roadside snack.

REST is your Chevron along the road most traveled: Your Life. 🛣️

Fortunately, thanks to the deep-dive research from Dr. Saundra Dalton-Smith, there are seven rest stops to refuel your daily drive:

As you drive down Highway 2025, watch for these 7 Types of Rest stops. I'll be posting signs in future newsletters 🛑🚧📵🚸🚦– the what, why and how to help you refuel through rest.

Rest isn't just an end-of-the-day activity. It's not a luxury—it's the fuel you need for life's detours and demands.

I'm ready to own rest as my go-to word to keep my energy tank full in 2025. Are you?

Simply resonating with a full tank,

Stacy🌺

Have you ever caught yourself saying… “I don’t have a choice.” There’s a specific kind of exhaustion baked into that sentence. Like life slid a contract across the table, signed your name, and now you’re stuck carrying out the terms and conditions nobody bothered to explain. Cue the internal toddler tantrum.😡 I hear it hiding inside the I have to’s of life all the time: “I have to keep the peace at family dinners.” “I have to stay in this job because I need the income.” “I have to take care...

I had the weirdest Discovery Call of my career this week. And considering I’ve spent nearly two decades helping humans unpack things like stress rashes before family gatherings, friendship breakups over sage green bridesmaid dresses, and one-letter text messages from emotionally unavailable men… this one made the highlight reel.😄 A woman booked one of my free 25-minute Discovery Calls after being referred by a longtime client. (Yes, the kind where we hop on Zoom, meet face-to-face, talk...

She appeared on Zoom clutching a mug of coffee like it was the only stable thing in the room. But her eyes? Exhausted. Like her nervous system had been pulling double shifts for years. “Every day when he walks in the door,” she said, “I brace a little… because I don’t know how the conversation is going to turn.” You can picture it. 👀 The click of the front door.Keys on the counter. She pauses mid-step into the kitchen, listening for how the cabinets close. Soft means safe. Loud means… proceed...
